Waste to energy plant in Baku

E&I International was entrusted to act as Employer’s Representative in accordance with FIDIC Gold Book, during the completion of Azerbaijan’s first refuse incineration plant. This prestigious project has been given the approval of Azerbaijan’s President, and is aimed at improving the quality of the environment in Baku, considered to be one of the world’s most polluted cities.

On 18 September 2009, a five-year agreement was signed between E&I International and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economic Development (MED).

Under the terms of the agreement, E&I is required to perform checks on the existing turnkey contractor, as well as ensuring the facility complies with relevant requirements regarding quality, performance, time and cost.

The incineration plant’s capacity is estimated at 500,000 tonnes of waste per year, scheduled to be transformed into electrical power to run the city.

E&I acts as a "one-stop-shop” in business, and offers many services in one place. Moreover, it is a Swedish company, which vouches for a high degree of environmental-technical competence and experience.
